National Award for the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care and Bioethics

Here is a model of what we do with the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care and Bioethics at Stony Brook School of Med. Thanks to all our Year Four students who are helping with patient care in these challenging days. They have all pondered in concrete terms the duty to treat in a time of a very contagious epidemic, and have answered this call according to individual conscience, as is fitting because their individual circumstances vary considerably. Having taught over the years at the U of Chicago Pritzker School, U of Michigan, 20 years at Case Western Med, and 11 here, I am able to say that these Stony Brook students are among the finest anywhere.

I am very happy that our school received the 2019 National Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Professionalism Award for our Professional Identity Formation.

Hope you are well,

Stephen
